Boğaziçi University Information Technology Department provides e-mail services to the academic and administrative staff of our university as well as to visiting researchers upon request. For academic and administrative staff, an e-mail account in the format name.lastname@bogazici.edu.tr is provided. For part-time academic staff and visiting researchers, an e-mail account in the format name.lastname@pt.bogazici.edu.tr is provided. For retired academic staff, an e-mail account in the format name.lastname@retired.bogazici.edu.tr is defined.
Mailing List Usage Policies:
- The created mailing lists are used for announcing internal or external scientific, social, or cultural events.
- Commercial and advertising content may not be sent.
- Those who are not members cannot send e-mails to the lists.

Boğaziçi University Information Technology Department creates e-mail accounts for the students of our university in the format name.lastname@std.bogazici.edu.tr.
How can I activate my e-mail account?If your e-mail account details (name.lastname@std.bogazici.edu.tr) were not sent via e-mail to the alternative e-mail addresses you provided during registration, you may visit our Information Technology units at the North and Kandilli campuses on weekdays between 08:30 and 17:00 to have your e-mail accounts activated. Requests to activate accounts or reset forgotten passwords via phone, e-mail, or similar methods are not accepted for security reasons.
Are there any rules regarding the use of my e-mail account?For your security, you must change the password provided to you immediately after your account is activated. Protecting this password and changing it periodically is the responsibility of our users. In addition, regularly cleaning the e-mails in your account is important for using your quota efficiently.
What is a quota?Every e-mail account has a quota. This quota is set to 1 GB for students. This amount is not related to the number of e-mails that can be received.
How can I check my quota?When you log in to your account via the web at bumail.bogazici.edu.tr and click on Settings → Folders, you can view your quota information at the bottom of the page in MB and as a percentage.
What happens when my quota is full?When your quota is full, users who send you e-mails receive a notification indicating that your quota is full, and you will not be able to receive e-mails.
Do I receive a warning when my quota is about to be full?Yes, when your usage exceeds 85% of your capacity, you will receive an e-mail notifying you that your quota is about to be full.
Is my e-mail account closed when I leave the university?After graduation, your account is kept active for one year and is automatically closed at the end of that year. In addition, for graduated students, zero-quota and forwarding-only e-mail addresses in the format name.lastname.graduationyear@alumni.bogazici.edu.tr can be defined. For information about alumni accounts, you may visit mbs.bogazici.edu.tr or contact mezun@bogazici.edu.tr.
How can I subscribe to e-mail lists?Every student who is assigned a Boğaziçi account is automatically subscribed to the ‘students’ mailing list. In this way, you will be able to view the e-mails sent by the Public Relations Office.

When administrative staff retire, their e-mail accounts are closed. When academic staff retire, an e-mail account in the format name.lastname@retired.bogazici.edu.tr is defined.
How can I activate my retired e-mail account?For our retired academic staff, e-mail accounts with the retired extension are automatically created. In order for retired staff to log in to their accounts, they need to sign in via a browser at bumail.bogazici.edu.tr. The username and password they previously used will remain valid for login.
What is a quota?Every e-mail account has a quota. This quota is set to 10 GB for retired academic staff. This amount is not related to the number of e-mails that can be received.
How can I check my quota?When you log in to your account via the web at bumail.bogazici.edu.tr and click on Settings → Folders, you can view your quota information at the bottom of the page in MB and as a percentage.
