Duties and Responsibilities

The Hardware Support Branch Directorate is the unit responsible for the procurement, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, software and license management, and technical support of all information technology equipment across the university. It also provides technical support for BUCARD, turnstiles, and campus access systems.

Performing hardware upgrades, maintenance, and software updates for computers and peripheral devices jointly used by academic and administrative staff and students.

Resolving hardware malfunctions and ensuring the repair of devices under warranty through authorized vendors.

Disposal & Technical Assessment

Technically assessing and reporting the eligibility of hardware that has reached the end of its service life for disposal.

Procurement & Technical Specifications

Preparing technical specifications for the procurement of computers, printers, scanners, and similar hardware, software, and materials.

Conducting inspection and acceptance procedures for procured IT equipment and ensuring their distribution to relevant units.

Providing training and technical support on hardware and software to academic and administrative staff when required.

Carrying out the installation, maintenance, updating, and management of computers in student laboratories.

Ensuring the proper operation of university-licensed software, updating license servers, and supporting VPN connections for remote access.
